Old England, A Museum of Popular Antiquities
============================================
Two very large volumes, each containing several books, by Charles
Knight. (Undated, but published about 1860).
These volumes are not only of interest to historians, but will also be
of immense value for genealogists. The books are arranged on a thematic
approach to various aspects of history throughout each of the ages:
people, churches, towns and buildings, castles, costumes, and
lifestyles, etc. There are thousands of illustrations - a double page of
text, and a double page of illustrations throughout the books.
Charles Knight has taken very old engravings, collected from many
different sources, and of different ages, and has used them to
illustrate his thematic approach.
You can copy the images and use them in your own family history file.
All money from the sale of this CD will be donated to the Dago Kakore
Primary School in Kenya. This is for a specific project at the school -
to provide improvements for one class room:
-
A concrete floor
at present it is bare mud
-
To plaster the walls
at present the walls are bare home-made mud blocks
-
To provide and fit steel framed windows
at present there are just holes in the walls!
-
To provide a locking external door
at present there is just an opening in the walls
-
To provide real desks, tables and chairs
at present there are desks/benches made from scrap wood
The CD will cost you £10 - and the *whole* of the £10 will go to
the
project. If we receive too much money, then a second class room will be
done.
